Introduction

I came back from St Barts fascinated and in love with this small island. When I arrive at Gustavia harbour with Great Bay Ferry, I saw this wonderful village setting with small white house and red roof. All seems so correct, discrete and clean. Then I started my busy day with a tight schedule to see everything I can in one day. Gustavia, the capital, is very luxurious with its shops with famous brands and fine dining restaurants. On the other hand, I felt very relaxed, serene and had a very safe feeling while being (shortly) in this very nice place. The hotels, all really nice and special, want to give to their guests a feeling of uniqueness and will do all they can and have the latest amenities, installations and equipment to personalize their service. For sure, in St Barts, you won’t feel like a number but a real individual with needs, wishes and expectations to be fulfilled. The small beaches, sunny bays, narrow streets and sometimes quite steep will take you up and down the hills of St Barts.  There is also a more wild side of this island in the area of Grand Fond and Toiny where the see hits the shore violently but at the same time produce a wonderful scenery of an untouched nature. Russians bought some parts of the island like Roman Abramovitch with its parcel and where he gives fabulous parties at outrageous costs but still giving this high standing celebrity to St Barts. Another house, Rudolph Nooreev (1938- 1993) one, worth seeing it in this remote area as it is built in wooden. The island is well worth it to spend time; one day is not enough and will only wet your mouth. At least one night or several nights if possible and you will discover what the island has different. A longer stay, if your purse allows, will fill you with joy and you will never forget this beautiful virgin island of mass tourism that is St. Barts.

Location

St Barts is only about 7 minute’s flight from St Maarten or approximately 45 minutes by ferry from Marigot or Phillipsburg. It is also possible to come from Guadeloupe by plane but only on small planes as the airstrip is quite short and pilots needs a special permit.

The Toiny: The 15 individual villas-suites of the Hotel Le Toiny are located in " Anse Toiny", in the wild part of the island, still preserved.
