El Momo Cottages

Introduction

El Momo is small, individual, earth-kind, quiet, very charming and a little "Robinson Crusoe like" with plenty of unspoiled nature. Sleeping well is easy as the altitude climate cools down at night. In addition to the breathtaking sea views enjoy fantastic ocean sunsets from October to March. An eco-friendly philosophy complements the beautiful natural environment and keeps tourists footsteps small. Finally, as of January 01st, 2008, El Momo cottages go 100% smoke-free.

Location

El Momo is located on quiet Booby Hill which is a 10 minutes walk away from the tiny village of Windward side where you can find the post office, bank, souvenir shops, Internet cafe, grocery stores, dive shops, wellness day spa, massage centres, yoga & Pilates studio, museum, art gallery, trail shop, tourist office and some great restaurants. Jobean’s glass studio is just below El Momo, so not even a minute away. El Momo is facing towards south-west which provides sunshine all day long and the hill in the back protects of too much wind.

Rooms

A set of stairs leads to six small wooden cottages each surrounded by tropical gardens. The airy „one-room-Cottages" are built of warm wood, decorated with original artwork, offer amazing ocean views from their terraces and provide a private atmosphere. They have no TV, phones or air conditionned (blankets for the cool winter nights are included). Handmade wooden furniture and individual colourful fabrics add a touch of Caribbean happiness. Mosquitos are very rare, so you can sit on the terrace enjoying sunset without any repellent. No safes or keys are necessary, because crime simply does not exist. The hotel is a tranquil heaven where a maximum of 14 guests rest and enjoy nature at its best.

The El Momo breakfast is famous and includes homemade bread, a fresh fruit plate, cheese, eggs any style, homemade natural yoghurt with granola, orange juice, butter, marmalade (enjoy our famous homemade banana marmalade!), honey, good coffee and a great selection of tea. Also available are choices of sandwiches, homemade cake, fresh squeezed juices and once a week we offer a homemade specialty dinner.

Activities

Saba is an amazing paradise for nature lovers, divers, hikers, artists and people who just like a safe place to unwind. No pressure and far away from the mad rush of the "normal world". Saba’s picturesque houses are mostly original historic architecture and the people are really friendly. Saba has not much night life, no big resorts, no casinos, no big cruise ships, no sandy beaches (that's why no mass tourism), no fast food chains, but spectacular unique marine life and amazing rain forest. This island is a rough and steep beauty. You will feel like sitting in a time machine and driving back many years.

Services

The friendly owners Angelika and Oliver Hartleib are your hosts who take time to provide background information and give tips concerning activities and dining. They are fluent in English, German, Italian and even some Spanish and French. As active hikers and divers themselves (both have worked as dive instructors), they are pleased to offer advice as well as arrange a special dive package that suits you. El Momo also features a wooden swimming pool deck is built around African Tulip Trees which provide natural shade for the cosy lounge area with hammock near the bar.
