Introduction

Long bay Hotel in Antigua offers Peace & Relaxation, mixed in with two water fronts, a Caribbean styled Plantation House, interesting and imaginative dining, cool island drinks, quiet personal spaces and an environment free of today’s madness.

Location

Long Bay hotel, Antigua enjoys the best of both worlds, with water on both sides of the resort. On the beach side, which faces West, you can enjoy calm swimming, great snorkelling and sand castle building, along with cool drinks and a great dining experience. On the Bay Side, water sports are offered. The Bay is protected from the open ocean by a barrier reef, which ensures calm waters.  The Bay faces East to catch the trade Winds (breeze), the Beach on the other hand faces West to catch the late afternoon sun. This well planned placement of the Inn keeps all our guest & public areas, cool, comfortable, perfect and especially generous.

Rooms

Originally, only 20 rooms were built. After the Lafaurie family purchased the property in 1966 it was decided that the extra space provided in all the public areas was an asset, so they have kept the numbers of guests catered to, small, on purpose. Now, this 25 room resort offers two water fronts, full water sports, Tennis, along with a full library and games room. All of the Caribbean Styled accommodations are comfortably furnished in an island style. They all offer large private balconies. All the accommodations are media, stress and hassle free, the rooms do not offer personal telephones, air conditioned or TV. There are 7 categories of rooms. The Lower and spacious bedrooms are on the ground floor and offer ceiling fans; they are just feet from the Bay facing East. Upper Bedrooms: The Upper rooms are on the second floor and are the most popular. THE ROUND HOUSE SUITE is a rustic, hexagonal, wooden cottage.  The Round House is perfect for a Couple seeking Privacy but sadly doesn’t offer any porch or patio.  THE HILL HOUSE SUITE is a large studio, tucked into the side of the hill overlooking the Bay. It offers an attractive balcony, full kitchen, a walk-in dressing room and a bathroom. THE HARBOR HOUSE COTTAGE is a traditional hip-roofed house right next to the dock with private patio; open-plan king bedroom, bathroom and large living area with kitchen, dining area and relaxation space and 2 trundle beds. THE CLIFF HOUSE COTTAGE is positioned above the main hotel and is very similar to the View House in size & style but offers only 1 & 1/2 baths. The Cliff House boasts a Four Poster King bedroom, kitchen, separate living area with 2 Trundle beds and a large private Limestone patio. This is perfect for a family of four. THE VIEW HOUSE COTTAGE is located high above the main hotel with a large wooden deck offering spectacular views of both the Beach side and the Bay Side. There is a personal hammock for naps, a four poster King bedroom, a full kitchen, large living area with 2 trundle beds and boasts two separate bathrooms. It is ideal for a family of four or two friendly couples.

Hotel Dining

The Beach house restaurant & bar are all about ease.  Located directly on the beach at Long Bay the restaurant serves light varied lunches, and snacks. The bar offers cool drinks. The Cuisine offered in our Turtle restaurant is quite a surprise and offer varied menus for breakfast and dinners. The Hats off Bar & Lounge, unique in that it is open air, to let in the cooling Trade Winds and the Moonlight is a gathering area, situated on two levels.

Activities

One of the best public areas of Long Bay is in the Library and Games room. Nearly 1000 books, fiction & non-fiction, are displayed to enjoy reading along with reference material. There is a table tennis table, billiards table, chess, checkers, cards, puzzles and much more. The room over all is huge, accommodating all the games in their own playing space. Long Bay offers many kinds of activities such as tennis and a wide range of water sports like sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, fishing, scuba diving (contract Off-Site), ocean kayaks and water skiing. All non-motorized sports are complimentary.

Services

The staff goal is to entice you to visit a place where time has slowed and life and its wonderers unfold all around.  The slow pace encourages one to re-connect with nature, beautiful sunrises, cool breezes, soft sand and wonderful sunsets. When arriving at the Inn, you notice the peaceful feeling, laid back, then the unpaved drive, then the large landscaped grounds, followed by the Caribbean Sea, all around. The sight conjures memories of visiting an old friend at their Caribbean seaside Plantation.  The idyllic personal spaces are many, which offer you, a place where you feel relaxed and at home.
